You have 15 days to respond
You have 15 days from the date your ticket is issued to choose one of the options on the back of your Offence Notice (the yellow ticket). If you do nothing, you will be deemed not to dispute the charge and a justice may enter a conviction against you.
Your three options
Option 1 — Plea of guilty (payment out of court)
Sign the plea of guilty on the back of your ticket and pay the total payable.
Option 2 — Plead guilty with an explanation
Appear before a Justice to enter a guilty plea and ask for an adjustment to the penalty or an extension of time to pay.
Option 3 — Request a trial
To dispute the charge, sign Option 3 on the back of the Offence Notice and mail it, or deliver it personally, directly to the Court Office.
How to pay your fine
Accepted payment methods are cash, money order, debit card, certified cheque, VISA, or Mastercard. Fines can also be paid online at Payfines.ca or paytickets.ca.
