Freedom of Information

Request access to police records — including reports, collision reports, and officer notes — under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA).

What you can request

  • Police reports (subject to restrictions)
  • Motor vehicle collision reports
  • Confirmation letters verifying that an incident was filed
  • Officer notes and statements
  • Accident reconstruction reports

Requests are handled under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA).

Access restrictions

Reports are released only to people involved in the incident or their authorized representatives, and third-party information is redacted. Records are not released during an active investigation or pending court proceedings, and information is not provided by telephone.

How to make a request

  1. In person

    Attend Police Headquarters and complete the Request a Report form (see downloads below).

  2. By email

    Email [email protected] with the incident date, location, incident number, the names of those involved, and a daytime phone number.
