Stolen Vehicle Search

Before you buy a used vehicle, check whether it has been reported stolen using the national Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) public search.

Check before you buy

The public can search whether a motor vehicle has been reported stolen using the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) public search. It is a good step before buying a used car, truck, or motorcycle. A vehicle search uses the 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).

To report a stolen vehicle, do not use the online search

The CPIC search is for checking status only — it does not report a theft or take a complaint. If your vehicle has been stolen, call the Belleville Police Service at 613-966-0882, or call 911 if a crime is in progress.
