Call-Taker / Dispatcher

Call-Takers / Dispatchers answer routine and emergency calls and dispatch officers for the Belleville Police Service and the Deep River Police Service.

It is the responsibility of the Call-Taker / Dispatcher to take routine and emergency calls from the public, members of the Belleville Police Service and other agencies. Dispatchers answer emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatch officers for the Belleville Police Service and the Deep River Police Service, and monitor active situations for safety.

Schedule

You must be available to work varied hours including days, afternoons, midnights, weekends and holidays.

Minimum requirements

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) to two (2) years' experience in customer service required.
  • Have no criminal record for which a pardon has not been received.
  • Be of good moral character and habits — meaning that you are an individual other people would look upon as being trustworthy.
