UPDATE: Temporary Lockdown at a West End Secondary School

A male youth is facing several charges in connection with a firearm investigation at a secondary school in Belleville.

On March 26th, Belleville Police responded to a report of an individual inside a west end secondary school with a firearm. Officers attended and located the male nearby in possession of a replica firearm and several knives and took him into custody without incident.

Upon further investigation, it was reported that a male had shown others that he was in possession of a firearm, later determined to be a replica, and made threats while concealing it under his sweater, including instructing others not to drive away.

As a result of police investigation, a 15-year-old Belleville male, whose identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was arrested and charged with the following offences:

• Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm X2

• Assault with a weapon X2

• Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose

• Imitation firearm – use while committing offence

• Forcible confinement

He was held for a bail hearing.
